WhatsApp is letting people join a call without creating an account. A host can send a guest link, and the recipient can open it in a computer browser, enter a name and wait to be admitted. The October 14 announcement covers both one-to-one calls and groups of up to 32 people.

The host still opens the door
Only an account holder can make the link. In the Calls tab, the host selects the plus icon, creates a call link and shares it. WhatsApp says guest calls are free, end-to-end encrypted and have no time limit.
Guests enter a waiting room. The host must approve each arrival and can remove a guest later. Once inside, a guest can share a computer screen, react or raise a hand. But they cannot see other participants' phone numbers, send messages or add someone else directly.
Does a call invite also let someone into the group chat?
No: the announced permissions describe a place in a call, not messaging membership. That distinction matters for a tutor inviting a student or a colleague bringing an outside specialist into a meeting. A browser guest can discuss the material without gaining the ability to message the group.
End-to-end encryption protects communication between its endpoints; it does not establish who is sitting behind a typed guest name. Our practical recommendation is to confirm an expected guest before admitting them, especially before sharing a screen. That is a host check, not a claim that we tested the new feature.
Google and Outlook calendar integrations are a separate promise for later this year. They should not be mistaken for something every host can use today.
This access change is separate from earlier group-call improvements and voice chats inside WhatsApp groups. The new invitation can reach someone who is not a WhatsApp account holder at all.
