TikTok's U.S. operator has published its midterm election plan, putting a round-the-clock operations center behind the scenes and voting information in front of users. TikTok USDS Joint Venture says security, engineering and trust-and-safety staff will work together on threats. Political accounts also face extra security requirements.

Where voting information meets the feed
The announcement names four sources for the U.S. Election Center: Democracy Works, the National Association of Secretaries of State, Ballotpedia and the Associated Press. Labels on content and prompts in search can direct people to more information. TikTok's community-contributed Footnotes provide a separate route for adding context.
An election resource inside an entertainment app has a fairly specific job. It can point a viewer toward registration information without expecting them to leave the feed and start their research from scratch. For the actual deadline or polling location, though, check the relevant election office. USAGov's voting and elections pages help people find official information.
False instructions are part of the enforcement brief
TikTok says it will act on false voting instructions as well as impersonation, coordinated influence activity and deceptive AI content. Those restrictions sit within the broader policy framework we covered in TikTok's community guidelines and AI misinformation. A misleading polling address is the sort of practical claim that warrants checking, however convincing the video around it looks.
The security desk stays open after polling ends
The U.S. Election Mission Control Center operates 24/7, according to the company. Dashboards, alerts and response procedures support investigations. The operator also says new code and features undergo security review before release, with protecting U.S. systems and user data among its priorities.
For U.S. government, politician and political-party accounts, verification and two-step verification are required. Paid political advertising is prohibited, and creators cannot run paid political branded-content campaigns. There is an exception for some government advertising that supplies practical voting information, such as registration instructions.
TikTok says the work will continue after Election Day. These are the operator's stated preparations; the announcement doesn't independently establish how effective the controls will be.
