Reddit advertisers are getting a way to compare media plans before turning one into a draft campaign. A planner announced on October 20 estimates reach, impressions and costs. It arrives alongside a campaign optimization score and wider availability of tools that automatically distribute a budget among ad groups.

The planner and score will reach advertisers through October, rather than appearing everywhere at once. They are additions to campaign management, distinct from the dynamic ad features Reddit previously introduced. One concerns the plan for delivering an ad; the other concerns the creative shown to its audience.

What happens before and after a campaign starts

Suppose a team is deciding between two audiences. Comparing plan versions can help it estimate delivery before committing to a draft. That still leaves a later question: once the campaign runs, which ad groups receive the money? Campaign budget optimization handles that allocation after the advertiser sets budgets and bids at campaign level.

Between those stages sits the optimization score: a 0–100% rating with recommendations during creation and editing. It can point to a change worth considering, but it is not a count of sales. Whether a team relies on paid advertising or organic reach, the outcome it wants remains separate from the platform's rating of its setup.

Read the dates beneath the cost claims

Reddit reports 19.6% lower blended cost per acquisition among advertisers scoring at least 80%, using internal July–September 2026 data. Elsewhere it reports 10% lower cost per click for traffic advertisers using budget optimization. Follow the footnotes and the second figure turns out to come from Q4 2025, not the same period.

A click and an acquisition are different outcomes, so adding the percentages would tell an advertiser nothing useful. Nor does the reported association alone prove cause and effect. Reddit itself calls these historical results not typical. A more useful comparison is the advertiser's own cost for the same objective before and after a change, with the other campaign conditions recorded.
